MANADO - The former mayor of the city of Manado, Jimmy Rimba Rogi, will hear today how long he will have to spend in prison for his alleged corruption. He will be sentenced by the Court of Judges for Corruption Cases (Tipikor). Jimmy is suspected of corruption with funds of the regional budget of Manado in 2006 and 2007. He is said to have caused the state losses of up to 69 billion Rupiah (4.9 million euro).
Earlier the prosecutor asked nine years in prison for him in this corruption case. The prosecutor also asked an additional punishment in the form of a fine of 300 million Rupiah (21.000 euro) as exchange for six months in prison. Jimmy also has to pay back all of the money he corrupted. Jimmy has asked Wenny to withdraw funds from the regional budget during 2006. He first moved the money to an account and then cashed it all. Then the money was brought to the house of the then mayor of Manado.
Another prosecutor told that Wenny was also told to create an expenditures post to help the local soccer team, Persma Manado. The funds were sent to Persma Manado without any valid documents and were made in the name of the financial department of the city government of Manado. Jimmy denies any wrongdoing but is suspected of having enjoyed the fruits of his corruption. "He also made it hard to research the financial documents of the city government to cover up his actions," Edy, another prosecutor, told.
Bye bye! But I wonder where he will get the money to pay back everything
