JAKARTA - The national budget for 2010, which is currently being talked about, makes room for an average of five percent pay rise for civil servants, members of the Indonesian army, the police and retirement payouts. 2010 will see 28 trillion Rupiah (2 billion euro) - or 21 percent - in extra funds to realize this. The funds are also planned to be used for the payout of a 13th month for salaries and retirement payouts.
Not only salaries will be adjusted upwards. Payments for meals will also increase. Members of the Indonesian military and police will get 40.000 Rupiah per day instead of the current 35.000 Rupiah. Public servants will get 20.000 Rupiah instead of the 15.000 Rupiah they currently get. According to president Yudhoyono this raise should improve the bureaucracy and the quality of public services. The government will also pay incentives to institutions and departments which are reforming their bureaucracy for the better.
I heard on the news, that the minimum salary (gaji paling rendah) for teachers is going to be raised to Rp 2 million a month. That seems to me a bit steeper than 5%.
makes room for an average of five percent pay rise
So that is possible indeed.
