BENGKULU - Around 120 truck drivers that normally transport coal in the city of Bengkulu have gone on strike. They also parked their trucks in front of the house of the mayor of Bengkulu. The protesters demand to have a meeting with the mayor. Until then they will not transport coal from the Pulai Baai mooring place anymore. Local residents have stopped trucks from using main roads in the city because they are blamed for the bad roads.
Because of the actions of residents, the truck drivers now demand a clear route through the city they can use without being stopped every time. The mayor should be the solution in this case, but after four hours of waiting last night he did not show up yet. So now it's the coal truck drivers that are in fact demanding something that should be demanded by the residents themselves; a maintained road system in the city.
