LIPPO CIKARANG - A court in South Jakarta has demanded a life sentence for Raysi Yolanda, which smuggled 1.8 kilograms of heroin. The head of the judges of the South Jakarta court, Setia Untung Arimuladi, said yesterday that the demanded sentence was read to the suspect one day earlier.
Raysi will most likely be found guilty of transporting narcotics in an organized manner. Raysi was arrested on December 16, 2008 when leaving a hotel in the South Jakarta area for his rented car. The suspect was bringing a bag with the heroin. The final verdict will be read on August 5, 2009.
As usual it's only the lower ranked people in an organization like this get get caught. Life imprisonment for transporting 1.8 kilograms of heroin from a hotel room in Indonesia must have been a followup of bringing that heroin to that hotel room in the first place. A clear statement that you should not 'do' drugs at all. But also a clear statement that the government is more likely to catch these small-time drug-runners instead of hunting down the real culprits.
