JAKARTA - Incumbent President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono won a second term after the General Elections Commission completed its count of votes in the Indonesian presidential election late Thursday night, local media organisations reported. An official announcement of the count, completed two days ahead of schedule, is expected on Friday, The Jakarta Post said.
Yudhoyono and his running mate Boediono garnered 60.80% of the valid votes, while the Megawati Soekarnoputri-Prabowo Subianto team received 26.79% and the Jusuf Kalla -Wiranto team receiving 12.41% of the votes, the KPU said. Kalla, who is also the current vice-president, said he will challenge the results of the count, though it remains unclear whether he will join forces with Megawati and Prabowo to do so.
Congratulations! Another five years of SBY is likely to bring more good things to the country, so why not?
