JAKARTA - An Indonesian student studying in Malaysia has become the first A/H1N1 flu related fatality in the country, a Malaysian health official said here on Thursday. The student, aged around 30, once was a confirmed patient of the flu, but he died from cardiac arrest, instead of the flu itself, Malaysian Health Minister Liow Tiong Lai said.
Although the virus was found in the deceased body, Liow noted, no evidence showed that the cause of death lay with it. The student reportedly was from the International Center for Education in Islamic Finance. He suffered from obesity and had an enlarged heart and liver.
Sin Chew Daily, a Chinese-language newspaper, said that the deceased was brought to a private hospital when he was suffering from dyspnea on Tuesday, but he died two to three hours later when he was waiting to pick up his medicine.
