JAKARTA - The Indonesian central bank, Bank Indonesia, has officially launched the new 2.000 Rupiah banknote today. The banknote with a value of 2.000 Rupiah is an addition to the current set of available values of 1.000, 5.000, 10.000, 20.000, 50.000 and 100.000 Rupiah. Bank Indonesia states that the banknote is fulfilling a need among the Indonesian population to have a value between the much-used values of 1.000 and 5.000 Rupiah.
The mainly gray-colored banknote features an image of Prince Antasari on the front. He is a national hero from Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan. At the back side is a drawing of a traditional Dayak dance. The display of a national hero is a continuation of the current set of banknotes already in circulation, which all feature national Indonesian heroes. The banknote has a watermark of the prince and has many other security features just like other current Indonesian bank notes.

Ah, it finally got easier to pay for parking. Instead of two banknotes, you now only have to hand over one banknote!

Or pay with one banknote of rp 5000 offcourse and not two notes from 1000

Yeps, that's why I wonder why this new 2.000 Rupiah banknote is seen as a missing part in the Indonesian financial system... but it probably creates more jobs, al that printing, distribution and so.

And a lot more banknotes in your dompet.....

I rarely have 1.000 Rupiah notes in my dompet, if I have them, they are in my pocket. The ones I get as change are often too dirty.. I don't want them to infect my paper with higher values. Before you know it becomes worthless as well.

Hard to find, these new banknotes. I didn't see a single one until now.
