According to Firman, an employee of the Meteorological and Geophysics Agency BMG, there are currently 121 hot spots, up from yesterday's 104 hot spots. There are hot spots in Padanglawas, Tapanuli Selatan and Riau. Firman said that the situation could worsen if there area has stable weather without much wind.
"However there is still rainfall in the area of Medan, the visibility is still influenced and flights will be influenced by the forest fires that has been lit by people that want to clear forest to turn them into fields," Firman said. Based on the latest information, all flights in and from Medan's Polonia airport still run as scheduled.
