PEMALANG - Mount Slamet in West Java province has started to exhaust hot molten rock with flames. The volcano started to show this activity just after sunset yesterday evening. The rocks reached an height of up to 600 meters. The head of the observation post for Mount Slamet, Sukedi, sold that the volcano first ejected blackish clouds before the hot molten rock was exhausted.
There were also volcanic tremors that continued to shake the volcano. From the time of the eruption until around midnight, direct visible contact with the peak was possible. During that time black and red colored clouds could be seen as much as 13 times. Visual observations between midnight and six in the morning showed that another 39 ejections took place with a maximum height of 400 meters.
"Since 23 April 18:09 local time the status of the volcano has been set to 'aware' to 'careful'," said Sukedi. Before the status of the volcano was changed, where were 13 exhausts of smoke and ash. There were slight ash rains in parts of the district of Banyumas and Brebes.
