A peek into Jakarta's nightlife, the women of B.A.T.S. JAKARTA - The later it gets the more clear it becomes that it is not all about the music, the band and the alcohol here. Pleasure is okay, but there is much more to get here that just that. The later it gets, a part of the people here starts to show more and more lowbrow attitude. In some areas you will see women hopping from one man to another. It could just be to greet them a 'bye bye', but all changes if you know better than that, because there is more to it.

The ladies that are now flocking in to have a chat were able to enjoy their welcome drink for the entire length of the evening. But they are preparing themselves for what they really came for; going along with a man. And that isn't even as hard as it might look like, because generally that 'going along' is only for the time in which a number of obligations is followed, similar to raising a flag. Every man that is willing to bring a woman with him from the club - bringing her outside is free - and brings her to a place where you at least have a bed, will find out what she has to offer for sure.

For now, everything goes in a quite orderly fashion. There are much more women than there are men in this area, so that is the benefit for the male population here. They can look for something nice before the regular lighting in the area is lit up around the clock of three in the night. Around that time most people have already made their choice and have left already, not to expose themselves completely as a whore-hunter.

Sales of alcohol drops considerably after one in the night. People are holding on to their lukewarm ice drinks and de-carbonated beers for as long as possible now. This is just to lower the cost of the entire evening in the last hours, because that cocktail with a price of some 125.000 Rupiah (some eight euro), is the first and last investment you wan to make as man to be assured that the women you will bring to your place later is not drunk, because that would be a waste of money.

Most foreigners here are not too stingy, but when a woman has to be 'arranged', all of a sudden it becomes a secret mission. The child-like behavior can be found in most of these already adult men; it's just like the first female friend in kindergarten; exciting, but the classmates are not allowed to know, scared to be robbed off the woman again. Just like it is something precious that is being safeguarded here, while this is just the place where the average woman can be replaced by a dozen others. It might just be that investment of 125.000 Rupiah earlier in the night that decides the course of the evening.

Buying a drink for someone in some locations is a sign that the man is trying to tell that he has some interest in a woman. Reasons are diverse: as a back-up, main target or just to trick another woman because of the bad fuck the night before. Be assured that most women here are almost daily visitors, unless they have found a source of money that gives them some time to actually spend it. But then it is still a question whether they will stay away for a few nights.

There are probably enough women that like the work they do - for various reasons, but economical ones are the main ones - so they will place themselves in this kind of environment with some friends to see what kind of foreign flesh is available that night. Some have to pay school fees for family-members, and the family only knows that some office job pays for it all. It's better they don't have a clue, before you know daddy is angry and you don't have to come home at all anymore. Most of the times it is little of a choice to be here, but if you end up here you can better try to make the best of it.

At the end of the evening people start to flock to the lobby of the five-star hotel. Cars are pulled from valet-parking and drivers of luxurious Silverbird taxi's which have been queuing for some time are called in to bring a couple to their final destination for the night - a less expensive location than Shangri-La is very likely. A good fuck later both will get some sleep to wake up a few hours later. Breakfast is serviced by room-service before the male person has to drag himself out of bed to work for his expat-salary. The female companion for that night will probably head back to her kos to get some more hours of sleep and count her money.

Oh yes, I've been there two times, I'm indonesian and I heard BATS have a great band, yes it is.but few foreigners tried to get me,maybe they think I'm a whore,oh my..they all same age with my father, well the second time I went there with friends,I met a swedish guy in same age and we dated after know each other few weeks later, not all men come there and be whore hunter.and I am not a whore also. Well, its jakarta, lots of people have bad economy and if you don't look for a girl to sleep with, there's much more nice place and bands like BATS.

BATS is famous for it's girls indeed, but many expats don't get their contract extended due to the crisis, so it looked like a war zone the last time I was there (May 19), too few guys with big bellies to absorb all the 'girls' available. Sad to see their business has gone down that much in such a short time.
