JAKARTA - The anti-drugs unit from the Jakarta police succeeded in breaking down an ecstasy factory in an apartment in the Gading Mediterania complex in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta. Three people were arrested in the apartment. Police also found evidence in the form of 17 kilo's of marijuana (worth 1.1 million euro), 31.000 tablets of ecstasy (worth 390.000 euro) , chemicals and equipment to make the drugs.
The finding of this drug lab is a results of an earlier raid on a house in North Jakarta two days ago. There they found a large quantity of drugs being stored. The drugs lab is said to have been operating for some six months prior to the police raid. Often high-class apartments are used for the production and distribution of drugs. The police is still looking for more information to close down the entire network. "We are still investigating to find out whether they are a part of an international network."
According to the head of the Greater Jakarta police, Wahyono, the police detained the three that were arrested. "Outside the evidence we found in the form of production equipment and credit cards, we also found four identity cards." he said. The four people on the cards are Sugiyanto, Sebastian, Beny Chan and Amir Kadir. They were able to hide what they were doing by pretending they were selling fish from their apartment.
