JAKARTA - A survey held by the Reform Institute shows that the trust of the people against the leadership of president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and vice-president Jusuf Kalla is getting more positive. "The trust of the people in the leadership has increased since the last survey was done in July," said Yudi Latief, the general director of the institute in a meeting with the press in Jakarta.
The survey, held in November and December under 2.500 respondents from all provinces in Indonesia has an error rate of 1.9 percent. Latief was at the press conference with two of the surveyors, Cholid Novianto and Zaim Zaidi, which told that as much as 75.48 percent of the respondents said that they had trust in the leadership of the current president and vice-president. 22.68 percent said they did not like them and 1.84 percent dit not answer.
Respondents were less positive about more detailed questions, like the cooperation with the rest of the government; only 51.68 percent said that it was good enough; 46.92 percent said it was not. About the economy only 29.72 percent said they did a good job, while 67.04 percent said they did not. They scored a little better on the social front, where 40.36 percent agreed; but scored worse on environmental issues, where only 22.56 percent agreed that they were doing fine.
