DHARMASRAYA - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has announced that fuel prices in Indonesia will be lowered once again in 2009. This can be done because the global prices for crude oil keep falling as well. He announced this at a speech during harvesting activities and the inauguration of an irrigation system in the district of Dharmasraya in western Sumatra.
"During a meeting with the members of the united cabinet last Friday, we have also discussed the possibility of an adjustment of the fuel prices in 2009, in reaction tot the lower oil prices on the global markets," he said. To change fuel prices, the price has to be calculated exactly so the subsidies given on some fuels will not interfere with the state budget. "At the moment we are still discussing it further," he said.
