JAKARTA - Three separate explosions have caused minor damage in the city of Ternate in Indonesia's Moluccas islands, northeast of Java, local television has reported. It is understood three small petrol bombs were used in the attacks early Monday morning. Metrotvnews.com said one of the bombs caused slight damage to the home office of the governor of North Maluku.
There were no reported injuries and local police have not yet given an explanation for the blasts, Metrotvnews.com said. Indonesia is on high alert ahead of the imminent execution of the three convicted Bali bombers, who were responsible for the 2002 terrorist attack that killed 202 people, including 88 Australians.
