JAKARTA - The former governor of Indonesia's central bank has been sentenced to five years in jail for corruption. Burhanuddin Abdullah, whose term as governor ended in May 2008 and who has always denied any wrongdoing, told the court he will appeal.
The case centred on a charitable foundation linked to Bank Indonesia which made payments to members of parliament and covered the cost of legal assistance for former senior central bank officials. Former Indonesian central bank governor Burhanuddin Abdullah is jailed for five years.
