JAKARTA - The three Bali bombers on death row in Indonesia may be executed as early as Saturday, as security is tightened around their island prison. According to the office of Indonesia's Attorney-General, after midnight this Friday is the earliest time Amrozi, Mukhlas and Imam Samudra could face the firing squad.
This possibility was boosted by Indonesia's Deputy Attorney-General Mochtar Arifin, who said the three could be executed as early as November 1. But a spokesman for the Attorney-General's department later said that "early November" could refer to any time up until November 10.
Indonesian police in Central Java have confirmed that police numbers have been boosted on the prison island.
