JAKARTA - The voting day for the general elections of 2009 has officially be postponed to April 9, 2009. This was decided in a meeting with the General Election Commission KPU and the Second Commission of the House of Representatives (Komisi II DPR) earlier today. The election process is to be revised as soon as possible. It is not possible to make a very detailed revision because a lack of time.
The change in the election date has an effect on the entire elections process, including the announcement of the political parties, which was to be held on July 5, but has now been delayed to July 9. Earlier the election day was set at April 5, 2009.
The delay of four days was decided upon to give the KPU enough space to do their work. The head of the elections commission, Abdul Hafiz Anshary, said that the delay in the schedule was not due to problems at his office though.
