CIREBON - The regional police has finally arrested the 'general' of the FPI (Front Pembela Islam) Mohammad Machsuni Kaloko (40) in the Pondok Griya housing complex in Cirebon, western Java. Machsuni was on a list of 20 people that are fugitive after the June 1 incident at Monas in Jakarta. The police ensured that Machsuni was one of the instigators of the violence between members of the FPI and a peaceful demonstration for religious freedom.
The head of the criminal investigation unit from the regional police of Greater Jakarta, Tornagogo Sihombing explained that Machsuni was arrested in the house of his family in Cirebon where he was hiding for the last four days. "At the moment that he was arrested he didn't resist since evidence against him is pretty strong," said Tornagogo. With this arrest, there are now nine people out of the 20 on the list in police custody.
"Machsuni, together with Munarman, which surrendered himself last week, is suspected of instigating anarchist actions against the demonstrators. They were both at the scene of the demonstration at the time of the violent clash. They first organized themselves at the Masjid Istiqlal, where a speech was given before they headed out for the violent confrontation. (indahnesia.com)
