JAKARTA - The head of the Ahmadiyah, Paninggilan Gunawan Ahmad, does not agree with the words of Abu Bakar Bashir that members of the Ahmadiyah movement should not be allowed to have identity cards that state that they are Islamic. He said that the "leader of the Koranic school in Ngruki is a crazy person. A mad man talking." According to Ahmad, decisions like this should always originate from the government so people should not take it serious at all.
He also said that Bashir is someone that is trying to break op the unitary state of Indonesia and the state philosophy of Pancasila, both very serious offenses comparable with treason if proven by a judge in a court of law.
