JAKARTA - A train on the route Rangkas Bitung - Pasar Senen has derailed just before entering the Kampung Bandan trainstation in Central Jakarta earlier this afternoon. Other trains on the track in both directions (Tangerang and Bekasi) were not able to stop at this station anymore. The locomotive with registration number CC 201-77 of the train derailed and closed the track in both directions. Local residents hurried themselves to the location, but only to get some of the diesel that was leaking from the locomotive.
There were no people injured in this incident. For now, the passengers of the train will continue their trip by other public transport. Head of the First Regional Operational unit of the Indonesian Railroad Company (PT KAI), Ahmad Sujadi, said that the cause of the derailment was not immediately known. PT KAI is working to lift the locomotive so the track can be repaired.
