SUKOHARJO - Hundreds of residents from the village of Kadokan, in Grogol, sub-district Sukoharjo in central Java are forced to evacuate because floods that have already inundated their houses is still getting worse. Villagers are forced to find shelter in the local mosque because their houses are flooded in over one meter of water. This flood is caused by high amounts of rainfall and rising waters in the Bengawan Solo river.
The process of evacuation in several areas is still ongoing. Search and Rescue teams from the local government are removing people from their homes, however there are still people who don't want to be evacuated at all. They prefer to stay on rafts which they have prepared some time ago. Most of them don't want to evacuate because they don't want to leave their personal belongings behind.
