PATI - The floods that hit the area of Pati, Central Java, cause the main road along the northern coast to be jammed with traffic. The road from Pati to Rembang is completely jammed. At Saturday the total traffic jam reached up to 20 kilometers. The road is flooded with half a meter to up to a meter of water. Many freight trucks and other vehicles haven't moved for two days now.
The water started to flood the road from the village of Widoro Kandang, Widoro Payung and Juwana in the area of Rembang. Hundreds of freight trucks haven't moved at all ever since. The traffic jams now reach as far as the entry gates of the city of Pati. The police has already been working with the system to open and close the road every once in a while but this isn't of much relief as well. For the drivers all this waiting causes them to feel weak. They have to sleep in their vehicles and their pocket money runs out as well.
The floods in the region of Pati are the second of this season. Floods with a height up to two meters hit the area in December last year. This time the flood already lasts for two weeks now. In the last three days the floods spread once again through several areas near Pati. Some 500 houses in the village of Babalan, sub-district Gabus, are still flooded.
