SIDOARJO - The water leaks mixed with gas which is easy flammable in a garage which is owned by a resident of Siring Barat, sub-district Porong in the district Sidoarjo is increasing in pressure. A number of villagers is forced to attach pipes from the leaks so they can divert the muddy water through their houses into the sewer. One of these places is a phone house owned by Siti Asiyah, a resident of Siring Barat. After they have attached the pipes, she hopes she will be able to open up her business again since it is the only form of income the family has.
This is the first time that a leak like this occurs in the phone house of Asiyah. It started last Tuesday in the afternoon and is located inside the phone house. They were forced to close the business because the leak flooded the entire area with muddy water. Connecting pipes to divert the muddy water, like already happened in several other houses and businesses nearby, is the only temporary solution. The only problem is that the leaks grow in force which causes businesses to be forced to close down every once in a while to clean up.
Most of the leaks with muddy water and gas occur in the area of Siring Barat and is already being observed by the Sidoarjo Mud Flow Observation Team (BPLS). They have told residents not to use open fire near any of the leaks. They also told not to use the gas to cook, because that is dangerous as well.
