GORONTALO - The Trans-Sulawesi highway between Poros and Pantura (the northern part of the road) which forms the main connection between the provinces of Gorontalo and Central Sulawesi has been cut of because of landslides at several points. The landslides occurred after heavy rains hit the district of North Gorontalo in the past few days.
Another landlide occurred in the village of Kasia in the sub-district of Sumalata in the same district. Traffic towards Gorontalo via Central Sulawesi have to turn around because the entire road is closed due to the landslides. The road can not be passed by traffic in any direction at the moment. There is currently only one road available for all the traffic, and that is the one via South Poros.
Together with the help of local residents, pedestrians and motorbikes can still pass the area of the landslide, but they have to be very careful. Outside the fact that the road is completely blocked at this moment, this incident also prevents aid from reaching the areas of Sumalata and Tolinggula. Local residents hope that the government will prevent this kind of things from happening again in the future.
