JAYAPURA - At least 11 people died in a landslide in the area of Dok 2 in the city of Jayapura in Papua. The landslide occurred after heavy rains lashed the area for quite some time. Heavy rain started to fall last night and didn't stop until this morning. Members from the local police, the army and local residents are searching for victims that are still missing under the rubble.
The search for victims is done with three machines of heavy equipment. In the search, nine of the victims have already been found dead. Two others are still missing, but people fear for their lives as well. All victims are residents of Dok 2 which were not able to rescue themselves at the moment the landslide took place. According to people that were able to rescue themselves, the landslide occurred around 02:00 local time (GMT+9) during heavy rains. There were also tremors reported in the same area.
