SERANG - The activity of a number of volcanoes is still rising. One of them is the Mount Krakatau volcao in the Sunda Strait. The frequency of volcanic tremors and small volcanic earthquakes was still on the rise.
A new crater has opened up on the southern side of the volcano. This new crater exhausts poisonous gases which are dangerous for humans. The alert-status of the Mount Krakatau volcano has risen to the second-highest yesterday, indicating increased activity. The Mount Krakatau volcano - which is actually the 'Anak Krakatau', a new volcano on an old location - erupted with lava for the last time in 1992.
Earlier today Mount Krakatau exhausted a fresh cloud of ash and steam.
