MAKASSAR - A Garuda jetliner with 142 people on board made an emergency landing at the airport of Makassar, South Sulawesi earlier today after a problem developed with one of it's wheels. Flight GA 602 was carrying 134 passengers and eight crew and had departed from Jakarta to fly to Manado in North Sulawesi. "The plane has finally landed smoothly. All passengers on board the plane were fine," said Yan Daulina, spokesman of Hasanuddin airport in Makassar.
Daulina said that the airport was operating normally after it was closed for about half an our to make space for the emergency landing. Press quoted witnesses as saying that the plane's left tire was flat after it touched down on the runway in Makassar. An unidentified passenger told that most people on board the plane were in panic when stewardesses informed them that there was a problem with the wheel.
