JAKARTA - Indonesia has been stripped of their equestrian bronze medal which has been awarded to fourth-placed India in the three-day Event Team, equestrian officials said. Britain's Andrew Griffiths, the technical delegate for equestrian eventing, said Indonesia has used illegal spurs and were demoted to fourth following a protest from India's German equestrian eventing Chef d'Equipe Ralf Ehrenbrink.
Griffiths said, "A protest was lodged to the eventing ground jury, after the completion of the eventing jumping competition, against the use of rowel spurs by the rider number 32, Indonesia's Andry Prasetyono with horse Aswatama Sportzgirl. "After a full investigation the president and the members of the ground jury decided that the rider number 32, Prasetyono, in accordance with FEI rules for eventing, had competed with spurs not allowed and they had no option but to eliminate this competitor from the competition."
He added, "According to the above-mentioned decision the results of equestrian eventing are amended accordingly and the bronze medal goes to India." Qatar won the gold in the event and Japan finished second.
