BANDA ACEH - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono confirmed that he is under an increased security threat but said he will continue his duties as usual. Security forces in Indonesia have been on high alert over the Christmas period, concerned about revenge attacks after their killing last month of a top Malaysian bombmaker in East Java.
Asked about reported threats against him, Yudhoyono said: 'I was only told (this) by the intelligence agency, the police and the presidential guards, and I will abide by any security measures applied by the presidential guards.' Yudhoyono celebrated Christmas on the island of Nias before spending yesterday in Banda Aceh to mark the one-year anniversary of the tsunami tragedy.
'I will carry out my daily duties as usual as president -- that's not going to change,' he told reporters. 'However, there is an increase in the profile of my security in connection with the threat based on intelligence information.' He provided no further details.
Yes of course. The president is always on the list of these guys, but I do not give them much of a chance
