Indonesia to reduce jail terms of 27 Bali bombing convicts JAKARTA - Indonesia will reduce the jail terms of 27 convicts of the bombing attacks on Bali Island in 2002, government officials said Friday. The government will cut the prison terms on Nov 3, which coincides with the Eid al-Fitr Muslim holiday that falls on Nov 3-4, the officials said.

Nineteen of the 27 convicts, currently serving prison terms of three to 16 years at Bali's Kerobokan Penitentiary, may receive a six-week remission each, according to Anak Agung Gde Mayun Mataram, head of the penal system division of the Bali office of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights. A sentence reduction will also be given to radical Muslim cleric Abu Bakar Bashir, who is jailed over his indirect role in the bombings on the resort island that killed 202 people, mostly Western holidaymakers.

Kiwimave yth,

Why reducing sentence ?Think about it really hard.
If you find corruption bad, stay away from Indonesia and
stay in the country where you come from.
There you will meet enough hidden corruption.
Talking about things which are disgusting

We are not stupid as many believe, outside Indonesia .

PS I'm not angry or what so ever,I just give my reaction on your mssge.OK ?

I think there is nothing to do with how much the people behind the screen to pay the judge, Indonesian people are the most tolerantly creature as long as I know, regarding the ramadhan day , I think after that, the convicted should be punished what they deserve.

this moment we are faces a lot of conflicts between people, government politics, the way rules around in every countries, one of them here we are in Holland, so this kind of news is not something news for all of us, happened everywhere in the world, so tried to be calm, be neutralization.

I know is hard for people who suffering with all tragedy, but we as people believe with good things, it would be coming also good things for everyone.

Kiwimave,
It seems to me that you have a very bad image of Indonesia and Indonesians in general. In the first instance, how do you know that the judges were paid? Do you have evidence on this and if so, it will be good for the Central Government of Indonesia if you can produce the evidence so that immediate action can be taken by their judicial authorities, it not hence its better not to lay false remarks. As for me, the eyes of the world was focused on the judicial authorities in Bali when passing sentence so the believe that the judges were "paid" is not correct....so be it! What disappointed me is that the death sentence should have been passed.

It is disgusting but it has nothing to do with bribing judges. It is just a common habit to reduce jail terms after Idul Fitri. Only it is not fit in respect with the victims of the barbaric terrorist acts.

Tolerant?! Forget it. Indonesians just don't care. Nothing to do with tolerance.

hoi jogja - Bali, ben jij indonesisch of belanda kaaskop ???????

The indonesian tolerants in this subject, we can see not all indonesian people does not care tolerance, that is not true, I mean we have several groups who does not have tolerance. Not all indonesian people are bad,

of course those people who cost a lot of death we could not respect, but there is a reason for ? why they did it ? something to do with money, the way of thinking ?background ?????

Example a lot of demo in Indonesia againts government, politics enz. but you can see, there are so many group of people with low educated, agresieve, being corporate with this kind of group only to bring to violence.

So, those people who involved with bom attack also people just do it without thinking of consceously, of course they have to be punished what they did, I think it is difficult in this position for the judge, he should be carefull, among other things could be happened with him en his family, the same everywhere in holland example, why a lof of court cases in Holland never resolved????

So, we as normal people, we can not do about it, can we ?????just be pray and hope, everything woud be ended with peace.

Thanks for the correction. Gus Dur, Ulil and some other humanists. But of course it doesn't include the Muhammadiyah and the FPI and the AGAP. So the number of the humanists in fact are so small.

Aponto, that's hyperbolic. ]
We only live once. We don't know if there's heaven or hell, we don't know if there's reincarnation.
But we know what is good or not for humanity. And I don't think Islam is good for humanity. By the way, have you heard what happened in France and Egypt (a bit OOT). Does it good in your opinion?

tak perlulah sampiyan berterima kasih.
And how do you know about the average opinion of the western world. Do you believe in GOLDEN RULE of HUMANITY?
Do you think the Balinese feel pleased hearing about the remission? Open your heart and think more. Place yourself in the shoes of Balinese People and those victims who lost their families, or become disabled all their lives. After that, if you still can think that it's nice to give remission to those Bali Bombing convicts, well, that's up to you.

My breath is normal, thank you. And actually I didn't shout at all. I use caps to subtitute bold. I told it in another forum. so let me change the style;

Do you believe in the Golder Rule of Humanity?

Is it better?
