JAKARTA - President Megawati Soekarnoputri on Tuesday afternoon left the State Palace for the last time as the fifth Indonesian president. Megawati arrived at the palace at 11.15 a.m. to sign the Law on National Social Security System. She left at 12:15 p.m. and did not give a speech after the signing.
Antara reported that journalists tried to propose some questions when Megawati was getting into her car, but she only smiled and didn't give any comments. The ceremony of the law signing was attended by Coordinating Minister for People's Welfare ad interim Malik Fajar, Minister of Manpower and Transmigration Jacob Nuwa Wea, and State Secretary Bambang Kesowo. As she left the palace for the last time, she shook the hands of several palace officers.
