You are currently in > Just a blog about Indonesia > Indomie, another fancy Indonesian product

It seems that the Indonesian food and drinks are inspiring me to write down another short story. Only yesterday I found out about the Teh Botol in my hometown, and now Iím writing a story about Indomie, which I bought together with the Teh Botol yesterday. The Teh Botol is a great Indonesian expercience for those who arenít able to be in Indonesia at a certain time. I enjoyed the first pack, the second, until the fourth, and now I have just opened up the fifth, to write this story.
Yesterday I also bought four packs of Indomie in the shop I bought the big back of Teh Botol. It was just to try, since I was quite a fan of eating noodles in boiled water. In Indonesia, you can eat them everywhere and buy them in almost every shop. In my home country, the Netherlands, you can also buy various brands of noodles, the popular brand is the quite expensive ďUnoxĒ brand. I prefer the cheaper brands which are imported, and are somewhat harder to find over here, but once again, if you look for it, you will see them everywhere.

The bags above were bought yesterday. The first thing that I noticed is that they are especially made for export, since the description on the packages is in English and German. At the back you will find the instructions to prepare the noodles in four languages; Dutch, German, French and Chechian, not even Indonesian! The only things that is Indonesian is the production information at the back: PT. Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk, Jakarta, Indonesia. It also contains information from the local importer, but mainly the name suggests what kind of product you have bought.
What did I eat today? It was Indomie Vegetables flavour. I eagerly opened the green bag, seeing what was in it. Not much of course, because itís such an easy meal. As you can see the biggest part is the hard mi (noodles), which most looks like krupuk, some dried herbs, dried vegetables and seasoning oil. The bowl on the right side is not included however.

Put all the ingredients together in the bowl, and heat two cups of water. If you are smart you put up the hot water before you start making any pictures, so you can go on right away. Of course I was not that smart (I still have to learn how to manage my time when Iím working digital camera), but the water was hot pretty quick. If you want to, you can also add the cabe (chilli), which is put in a separate little bag. Be sure not to cut open the chilli part when you open the herbs part, because they are made from one bag. I usually skip the chilli, because I rather like to eat my noodles quickly. Anything that is hot, is not to be eaten quickly by me.

After adding water to the dry ingredients, let the noodles absorb the water so they become like spagetti. Mix the vegetables, seasoning and maybe the chilli and let is become some kind of soup. Some donít keep the water in the bowl, but I usually first eat the noodles with a fork, and drink the soup afterwards. Maybe Iíll take a Teh Botol as well.

Selamat makan!

Note: This story and the previous one are inspired by a woman from Malaysia with writes stories in their very own way, with adding pictures and telling her story. I have not intented to copy her work, because I simply canít write stories like she does. I admire her way of writing them. But since I have a digital camera, I can at least make the pictures like she does, however I canít go outside during the winter just to make some pictures. You will probably see some tiles of the living room and a wooden table instead of a lush tropical garden with green grass and some Indonesian people, since the pictures are made in The Netherlands.
I would like to thank Fairy for her ideas and personal tips.
