JAKARTA - Seven Indonesian fishermen have died in a bizarre accident after apparently inhaling poisonous air inside the hold of their trawler. The first victim died after trying to clean the Deli Balai Indah's 2.5-meter-deep fish tank after a month at sea. After hearing a cry for help, a second crewman went down into the tank but failed to emerge.
The other five each climbed down into the tank but they too never resurfaced. Police wearing protective masks opened the tank a few hours later when the trawler reached port. While authorities are still awaiting autopsy results, it's thought the seven died from inhaling poisonous air inside the tank, which was filled with rotting fish.
