JAKARTA - Indonesia has welcomed moves by the United Nations to avoid a war against Iraq.
Foreign Minister Hasan Wirayuda expressed the hope that the voices of those who oppose war is getting stronger. And that those who are pushing for a peaceful solution, will be heard. Six undecided members of the Security Council want to give Iraq a 45-day reprieve to submit to disarmament demands.
Jakarta said, it hopes this proposal will get an appropriate response from those who are for military action. Indonesia has the world's largest muslim population. It has repeatedly warned the US against attacking Iraq.
