AMBON - Indonesian security forces fired warning shots on Saturday to disperse protesting Muslims in the eastern city of Ambon, wounding one demonstrator in the second such incident in as many days. Ambon is the capital of the Moluccas islands, scene of religious violence that has killed at least 5,000 people in the last three years. Witnesses and security officials said at least one protester was wounded. The approximately 1,000 demonstrators were demanding authorities take stern action against Christian separatists. The Muslim protesters dispersed peacefully after the shots were fired.
