BOGOR - Three hundred and sixty-six people suffered from dengue fever and one person died from the disease between January and August of this year, a health agency official said on Monday. Bogor Health Agency chief Triwandha Elan said that last year 631 people suffered from dengue fever and five people died. He said that the Bogor administration was trying to free the city of dengue hemorrhagic fever, which is transmitted by the aedes mosquito. As there is no cure for the disease, it can only be avoided by taking preventive measures, such as fumigating places suspected of harboring the mosquitoes and destroying their larvae, which can usually be found in clean water around the house. Triwandha also said that during the first seven months of this year, 10,422 people in Bogor also suffered from respiratory disease. Last year, respiratory disease affected 49,177 people, but there were no reported deaths from it.
