The Indonesian passenger jet that crashed one month ago was flying with speeds up to 425 km/hour, almost double the normal landing speed. The crash killed 21 of the 140 people aboard. This was told by the chief investigator earlier today. At least 21 people are dead and many others injured after a plane of airliner Garuda crashed upon landing and burst into flames at the airport of Yogyakarta, central Java. "I saw many bodies, dozens of bodies badly burnt near the exit," told captain Yos Bintoro, an airport official to ElShinta radio after the accident. "I saw people dead in the cockpit. I cannot say if that's the pilot or co-pilot," he said.

Eight flights at an airport in East Kalimantan province were delayed Wednesday afternoon after a plane overshot the taxiway and became stuck, an airport official said.
The official at Balikpapan airport said takeoffs and landings continued but one takeoff and seven arrivals were delayed because the Garuda Indonesia 737 could not be moved from the "over-run" area off the taxiway.
