According to the Department of Health in Indonesia, there were 57 new cases of H1N1 Mexican flu in the country. Only laboratory confirmed cases are counted. In total there are now 1.005 cases of the disease confirmed in Indonesia alone.

Indonesia has confirmed 22 new cases of the H1N1 Mexican Flu virus, putting the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 930, a Health Ministry official said here Wednesday. A patient infected with the H1N1 flu died on Sunday after being treated for several days at the Persahabatan Hospital in Jakarta. She died due to severe complications and was being treated for the H1N1 virus for at least one week. She also suffered from pneumonia before she was infected with H1N1. The doctor said the complication then caused bacteria to enter her lungs which caused her to die of heart failure.

Over the last few days, the Department of Health in Indonesia has announced almost 100 new cases of H1N1 Mexican Flu in the country. The total of confirmed infections in the country now stands at 561. The disease has now spread to 17 of the 33 provinces. A six-year old girl who had tested positive for the H1N1 virus has died in a hospital. The girl, who has other health problems including pneumonia in the last recent years died on July 22. She was brought to the hospital with flu-like symptoms as fever, coughing and difficulty breathing.

They all live in the same street and are now treated in the Adam Malik general hospital in the city. The city government of Balikpapan has decided to close down all pig farms within the city limits of the city in eastern Kalimantan in 2010. Farmers are given one year to prepare themselves for the closure. Based on information of the city government, there are currently 40 pig farms in the area. The general hospital in Tangerang for example, has had isolation rooms for bird flu victims since 2008. Now these rooms are prepared for possible swine flu victims.

The Department of Transport follows the Department of Public Health in preventing swine flu from entering Indonesia. A number of airports and seaports have prepared themselves already according to Bambang S. Ervan, a spokesperson for the department earlier today.
