Tour de Indonesia - Java to Bali on a bike Prolonged uncertainty over whether of not the epic Tour de Indonesia cycling event would continue has ended with an announcement from the Indonesian Cycling Association (PB ISSI) that the race will take place in 2008. The 1,035 km race from Jakarta to Bali will be held November 23 - December 5, 2008.

Problems mount at Asian Cup in Indonesia Problems are mounting for organisers of the Asian Cup in Indonesia with poorly organised ticket sales, criticism of training pitches and a floodlight failure at the main stadium. Indonesia has had little experience in hosting big sporting events and appears to be struggling to get it right.

Batminton: Indonesian men's double fails to grab gold in Doha Indonesian men`s double Luluk Hadiyanto/Alvent Yulianto failed to follow the step of their countrymate Taufik Hidayat who succeeded in contributing gold in men`s single after defeating his Chinese arch rival Lin Dan. In a game held at Aspire building, Sport Center of Doha, double Luluk/Advent were easily overpowered by their Malaysian rivals Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong in a strait set, 13-21 and 14-21.

First A1 victory for New Zealand on Sentul track New Zealand secured its first-ever victory in the A1 Grand Prix series on Sunday with a dominant lights-to-flag drive from Jonny Reid in the sprint race at the Sentul circuit, Indonesia. Team Mexico's Salvador Duran put Reid under pressure in the closing laps of the race to finish a fighting second ahead of Great Britain's Robbie Kerr.

Indonesia stripped of bronze medal at Asian Games Indonesia has been stripped of their equestrian bronze medal which has been awarded to fourth-placed India in the three-day Event Team, equestrian officials said. Britain's Andrew Griffiths, the technical delegate for equestrian eventing, said Indonesia has used illegal spurs and were demoted to fourth following a protest from India's German equestrian eventing Chef d'Equipe Ralf Ehrenbrink.

Indonesia beckons A1 racers For the second time in two weeks, the A1GP series returns to South East Asia. This time, the series will set up camp at the Sentul circuit on the Indonesian island of Java, 42km from the capital Jakarta, for round five of the 12-round season. The Sentul circuit is located in the wealthy region of Bogor, a popular summer resort and centre of trade for products of the surrounding region including coffee, tea and assorted spices.

Indonesia fined $30,000 for failing to play in Israel Indonesia has to pay a fine of more than US$30,000 to the International Tennis Federation (ITF) for unilaterally cancelling its participation in the Israel Fed Cup, in Tel Aviv, last July. The Indonesian Tennis Association (Pelti) had received an e-mailed message from the Executive Director of Fed Cup and Women`s Tennis, Juan Margets, saying that the Fed Cup Committee in its meeting last September 15 decided to fine Indonesia, Pelti Deputy Secretary General Ferry Raturandang said here on Wednesday.

Indonesia goes Dutch to chase World Cup dream Indonesia is looking to plunder the soccer leagues of former colonial rulers the Netherlands in a bid to qualify for the World Cup finals for the first time since independence 57 years ago. The country's soccer chiefs say dozens of youngsters of Indonesian descent are playing for top Dutch clubs, and they hope to lure them back to give the national team a much-needed boost.

Indonesia to host A1 Grand Prix in January The Sentul Circuit in the Indonesian province of West Java will host the A1 grand prix, the first motor sports in which drivers compete for their countries, in January next year, a local newspaper reported on Tuesday. The host country has been asked to upgrade the 4.1-km circuit to make it suitable to the fast racing of the so-called World Cup of motor sports, reported Jakarta-based Kompas.

Tour d' Indonesia: Peter van Agtmaal wins stage Cagey veteran Nathan Dahlberg went looking for a stage win - and some redemption - in Thursday's leg of the 2005 Dji Sam Soe Tour d'Indonesia. He very nearly got both, just losing the fourth stage to Dutch rider Peter Van Agtmaal (The Jong en Laan), who took Dahlberg in a two-up sprint in Solo.

Tour d' Indonesia: Third stage dominated by Giant Asia Racing Team The Giant Asia Racing Team continued its domination of the Dji Sam Soe Tour d'Indonesia Wednesday, winning the third straight stage of the race and retaining control of the yellow jersey. This time it was the turn of Giant rider Iranian rider Hossein Askari to take the spotlight - he soloed into Jogjakarta for the stage win and took over the race lead from his teammate Paul Griffin.

Tour d' Indonesia: Irishman David McCann wins second stage Irishman David McCann won the second stage of the 2005 Dji Sam Soe Tour d'Indonesia Tuesday in a time of five hours, two minutes and fifty-one seconds. McCann attacked his Indonesian breakaway companion in the final metres of the race to take the win on the streets of Purwokerto. The stage showcased the impressive strength of McCann's team, Giant Asia Racing, which managed to place all of its' riders in the decisive move of the day. Giant rider Paul Griffin finished third on Tuesday, while his Iranian teammates Hossein Askari and Ghader Mizbani finished in fifth and ninth place on the stage, respectively. Griffin and Askari now hold down first and second positions in the general classification.

Locals, riders enjoy Tour d'Indonesia Edwin Raats was brought in only four days before the race, and was expected to be a reinforcement for the Benteng Muda Tangerang team during the ongoing Dji Sam Soe Tour d'Indonesia cycling race. However, the 33-year-old Dutchman has had a hard time making his mark on the race and finds himself languishing in 70th place overall in 1,503-kilometer, nine-stage tour completed, with five stages to go.
