10.000 more hotel rooms add to oversupply for Bali Beritabali.com says the Bali Hotel Association (BHA) is predicting an increase of 10,000 new hotel rooms will come on line in Bali in 2011. The permits for these new hotels were issued before the provincial government of Bali introduced a moratorium on new hotel projects in the islandís southernmost regions.

Long delays for Lion Air flights from Singapore It was a normal Wednesday last week and still it seemed that something was completely wrong with Lion Air. After they had received a stern warning from the Department of Transport, the came with so-called 'own' improvements, but the airline does not seem capable of letting their many flights depart on schedule.

Islamic groups demand Ahmadiyah group be outlawed Hundreds of conservative Muslims on Saturday rallied in the Indonesian capital to demand the government outlaw an Islamic sect, the Jakarta Globe reported. Almost 1,500 protesters wearing white robes gathered in Jakarta to urge the banning of the minority Ahmadiyah group. According to reports, some protesters held placards reading "Disband Ahmadiyah or Revolution."

Flying Merpati Nusantara? Are you sure? Figures from ticketindonesia.info show that the airline with the most canceled flights in their name is Merpati Nusantara. This Indonesian state-owned company, also partially owned by Garuda Indonesia, seems to have a peculiar way of conducting business; selling tickets, canceling flights and then wait for months to pay back the money paid for tickets on those canceled flight. At least it seems that way.

Merpati targets 3.3 million passengers in 2011 PT Merpati Nusantara Airlines is optimistic that they will carry 3.3 million passengers in 2011, an increase of 10% over the total carried in 2010. The commercial manager of Merpati, Tonny A. Achmad, said the higher target is being driven by the commencement of service over a number of new domestic routes flown by the airline.

Fatahillah Museum closed until 2014 The Fatahillah Museum of History in Kota Tua, the old city of Jakarta, will be closed for two years to allow for conservation work to be carried out on the badly damaged museum complex.
